The name suggests a thicker brew, when, in fact, it is refreshing and easy to drink. The dark colour and alcohol content also threw me off. Now I wonder what this would taste like if it were aged in some scotch barrels. I really enjoyed drinking this ale and will have a few on hand over the holidays for guests.

Now you are on to something. Maybe we can get Amsterdam to pair with our local scotch distillery!!!

This is waaaaay easier to drink than I thought it would be. When I hear Scotch Ale, I think Macewans. And that was sludge. This is a perfectly carbonated, slightly sharp ale with a super clean finish.

Another great pick for the 12 Days of Taste-mas!!

I didn’t think I was going to like this as much as I do. Crisp and clean, flavourful without being too hoppy or bitter, and almost no aftertaste. I will likely drink more of this!

A dark auburn colour. Poured with a thick white head that dispersed quite quickly. Carbonation wasn’t too significant. Tasted the malt but not heavy as you would expect from the name. Guess thats why its “wee” heavy. The Amsterdam Wee Heavy Scotch Ale was very drinkable. No complaints here.

Note: My thoughts were consistent with those above – I didn’t know what to expect as I do not drink many heavy, thick beers but this one was smooth went down very easily.

    Tasted December 20, 2014.
