The Chocolate Manifesto Triple Chocolate Milk Stout is our definitive, indulgent statement on beer and chocolate. Unfermentable milk sugars, or Lactose, gives this classic Milk Stout voluptuous body and velvety mouthfeel. Three strata of raw cacao nibs, cacao powder, and chocolate malt layer a triple doozie of chocolate in this unique milk stout. Earthy espresso notes and creamy chocolate dominate this ruby-lit, burnt umber bodied beer simmering with a welcoming 10% abv of bittersweet warmth. 750 ml, 10% alc./vol.

Well here we are at the end of another successful Taste-Mas.

Thanks to Huw for putting in the hard work getting all of these beers online for us to comment on!

I had forgotten how great this beer is. I honestly wasn’t looking forward to it as I am about craft beered out. Now that I am halfway through it – I am enjoying it thoroughly!!

The chocolate doesn’t quit with this brew, but it isn’t overpowering at all. It almost has a fruity finish with a hoppy aftertaste.

A very enjoyable brew in the middle of a very enjoyable day!

    Merry Christmas all!!!

Thanks, Chuck! A big Wobbly Pop Culture thank you goes out to all the great and varied breweries out there. These breweries continue to produce beer that is out of the realm of “Normal” and I can only think they do it out of the love for beer. Without them we would not have a 12 Days of Taste-Mas like this.

As for this Triple Chocolate Stout, I did not enjoy this at all. I did not even finish the beer, but I may try again in a few weeks. Chuck brought up a great point, I might have been craft beer’d out and had too many stouts and porters that I grew tired and did not give it a fair try.

I’m going to pick another bottle up at the LCBO, do a better taste and then post those findings.

I can’t say I really loved this beer, either, although the name is completely apt. For a “chocolate milk stout”, the flavour of sweet chocolate is very clear. Weirdly, so is the milk flavour, imparted by the lactose. To me, this beer tasted closer to a White Russian than a beer. I also wasn’t able to finish it.

So Taste-Mas didn’t end on a high point for me, but over the past 12 days, I did taste some beers that I really enjoyed and will buy again. Overall, I think I liked more of these beers than I did from last year’s oeuvre.

Even though twelve days is a row may have led to a little craft beer fatigue, I think it was a fun, worthwhile event. I look forward to Taste-Mas 2015!
