Day 1 of Taste-Mas 2016: Muskoka Brewery Winterweiss 473 ml

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA Winterweiss (Vice) was developed over a warm cabin fire, filling the void for a flavourful yet sessionable brew to enjoy during a long Winters night. This Dunkelweizen is deep brown with notes of clove and banana. Muskoka Winterweiss partners the yeast and wheat character of a Hefeweizen with the malty richness of a Munich Dunkel. The result, a brew to enjoy all Winter long. Seasonally brewed and available in limited quantity, the perfect beer for Winter celebrations with friends. 473 ml, 5% alc./vol

The dunkel always takes me by surprise with this one. When I hear ‘weiss’ I am expecting a light fruity beer. I do love it though!! It is what a winter beer should be; easy to drink, tasty and malty.

A fantastic way to kick off 2016 Tastemas!!!!

We’re easing into this year’s Taste-Mas and this beer does just that. Smooth, easy drinking beer with a malty taste prepares us for the darker stronger beer to come later on in the week. I have enjoyed most offerings from Muskoka and this is no exception. #Taste-Mas2016

Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Taste-Mas everybody!

This is a nice start to this year’s festivities. Easily drinkable, smooth and crisp. A bit of spice, a bit of sour, but neither is overbearing on the overall flavour, which is nice. There’s a brief moment on the palate that reminds me of bubble gum (Dubble Bubble?), before it gives way to a malty finish. I like it!
