Today’s TasteMas offering is even peculiarer than yesterday’s. I am picking up everything mentioned in the description: the sour, the red wine barrel, and the cinnamon. On its own, I don’t think I am a fan. But after a few bites of some hot and spicy Chinese food, it tastes a little sweeter and is a bit more appealing to me.

Holy Moly, this is a weird offering. So many things happening all at once. I do like a sour beer and I do like some barrel-aged beer, but I am not sure that I like this barrel-aged sour beer. The colour is hazel, but held up to the light has a red hue to it. Right from the get go the aroma of the beer let’s you know that it’s here and it means business. It’s not a heavy beer and at 7.5% is still smooth. The aftertaste has a little heat which could be the cinnamon. I’m on La La La La Fence for now.

I was introduced to sour beer this past summer – this is an interesting twist on that flavour profile.

I can actually taste the red wine barrel aging in this brew! It imparts an interesting finish that is enjoyable.

Overall, I don’t enjoy sour beers enough to drink them a lot, but if I were to reach for one, this is one that I would go for!
